Why Thornhill patients cross Steeles for implant work
Thornhill is the closest York Region community to our office. From the Promenade Mall area, Yonge and Centre, or the Bathurst and Steeles corner, most patients arrive in 15 to 20 minutes without traffic. That matters more than it sounds. Implant surgery is not one appointment. There is the consult, the CBCT review, the surgical day itself, a same-week post-op check, and the prosthetic phase. A 15-minute trip done six times over six months is a different decision than a 45-minute trip done six times.
The other thing that comes up with Thornhill patients is generational. A lot of families on this side of Steeles have used the same general dentist for twenty or thirty years. That relationship is worth keeping. What we hear repeatedly is that the family dentist handles cleanings, fillings, and the standard work, and refers out when an implant case gets complex or full-arch. That referral pattern is what we are built for. We do not pull patients away from their general dentist. We do the surgical and full-arch work, send the patient back, and coordinate on the restorative side when needed.
And then there is scope honesty. A Thornhill patient looking at All-on-4, a zygomatic case, or revision of failed prior implant work is not looking for a general office that places a few implants a year. They are looking for someone who does this every day. Proximity plus focused scope is the actual reason this drive makes sense, not one or the other on its own.
Getting here from Thornhill
From the Promenade Mall area and the Bathurst corridor, the cleanest route is Bathurst south to the 401, then 401 east to the Victoria Park exit. Non-rush, that is a 15 to 20 minute trip. In rush hour, the 401 stretch is the only variable and most patients add ten minutes for a morning appointment.
From the Yonge and Centre core of Thornhill, Yonge south to the 401 east is straightforward, again 15 to 25 minutes depending on time of day. Patients from Royal Orchard often prefer Bayview south as a surface alternative when the 401 is heavy, which lands at the office in a similar window without the highway.
We schedule longer surgical and full-arch appointments mid-morning or early afternoon on purpose so Thornhill patients avoid the worst of the 401 in both directions. Patient parking is on-site at the building, which removes the other piece of friction people worry about.
What we actually do for Thornhill patients
The cases that bring Thornhill patients across Steeles are the ones that need a focused surgical practice. Full-arch rehabilitation, including All-on-4 and All-on-X, implant-supported dentures, and full-mouth reconstruction. Zygomatic implants for patients with severe upper jaw bone loss who have been told elsewhere that they need grafting first or are not a candidate at all. Revision of prior implant work that has failed or is failing. And the more standard single and multiple tooth implants where the patient simply wants the work done by someone who places implants every day.
In-house lab, in-house sedation and general anesthesia, no separate facility fee. For a Thornhill patient that means the consult, the surgery, and the prosthetic phase happen in one building with one team. You are not bouncing between an oral surgeon in one part of the city and a prosthodontist in another.
Most of our local cases fall into one of three categories: full-arch rehabilitation, complex implant surgery (including zygomatic implants for severe bone loss), and single & multiple tooth work for patients who want the implant placement done by a focused team.
Why Thornhill patients pick us
Thornhill patients tend to do their homework. The ones who end up in our chair have usually consulted with two or three offices before deciding. What they are sorting for is whether the office that quoted them on a full-arch or a complex case actually does that volume, or whether they are a general practice taking on an occasional implant case. Dr. Moemen Metwally has 15+ years and thousands of implant cases behind him, and the practice is built around full-arch and complex rehabilitation as the core work, not a sideline.
We also take cases other offices can't or won't take. Severe bone loss, failed prior implants, medically complex patients who need general anesthesia handled in-house. If a Thornhill patient has been told elsewhere that they are not a candidate, that conversation is worth having again here.
Patients also travel from nearby: Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Toronto.
A meaningful share of our caseload comes from Thornhill
Because we are the closest implant-focused practice to most of Thornhill, a real portion of our full-arch and complex implant work comes from this side of Steeles. Many of these patients were referred by their long-time family dentist for the surgical phase and continue their routine care back home. Others found us after a second opinion on a case another office declined.
